Who to Contact if you Suspect Nursing Home Abuse

To report suspected elder abuse, neglect or exploitation, you must call the state where the person lives.

Contact the State authorities by calling your state's elder abuse hotline or reporting number. In an emergency, dial 911 or call the police immediately.

If the danger is not immediate, but you suspect that abuse has occurred or is occurring, share your concerns with the local adult protective services, long-term care ombudsman, or police.
